worst tune ever!

Post by 80gus »

Took a log file of a customers car today pre tune. Take a look at how it left a "Tuners" Engine Builders shop, took it for a spin around the block come to check the log and really wish i watching the wideband and not the road wow how lean and look ate duty cycle. Run a fuel pressure test and wow fuel pressure dropped to 20 PSI mid throttle at this point i buttoned off, , i guess he tried to compensate by throwing injector duty cycle to the moon.

surprised its still holding together. anyone else ever found logged anything this bad?

I've felt sorry for some people when seeing what they've paid for. Should see some wiring I've come across too. What software is that?

HP tuners mate, I feel real bad for the owner it was a 20k plus build its got a tick that Worry's me , and then I see this, the owner says his only got into it a couple of times and was disappointed, so parked it up. I think that's what's held it together. Considering the size of the motor 433ci it should be almost scary to put your foot into , it's scary in the wrong way, scared it's going to pop!

Although it is REALLY lean for full load so long as the knock sensors aren't dulled or not connected it's not showing any KR, hopefully thats a good sign!

16.2 AFR and 24 degrees ignition timing especially through the maximum torque area it should be knocking its head off!
it would be interesting to have a look at the tune if you could post it up.

I hadn't even looked at the Knock sensors yet, I am starting with the bare bones first, it had the IAT cable tied to the radiator, had an accelerator pedal that was mounted in a way it would only reach a maximum or 72%
9should be 85%, so it was i guess only ever tuned (butchered) to that throttle of 72%.
Going to get the injectors removed and tested as i'm sus on the RH bank

Just starting to look at the tune now, Knock sensors all desensitized across the board drasticly. This was the second shop to have a go at it, the first blew a brand new LS3 create motor on the dyno, and then popped there rebuilt motor as well. I dare say they have never logged the fuel pressure, and it has been this poor blokes problem the whole time. Ive sent it to get new decent pumps, regulator sorted before I touch it again. I'll post up some of the screen shots of the tune when I get a chance i think he got a bit carried away with the interpenetrate function as everything is extremely flat. I'll start with a fresh base.
