Re: Beading/bead rolling tool/s for steel lines.
In all my years driving Commodores I've never had a radiator hose blow off. Maybe the odd leak with old hoses but never a complete drastic failure. Same with PS lines, leaking hoses that are old and brittle but not a complete failure or a line blowing off. Had a trans cooler line fail once, pin pric...

Re: Beading/bead rolling tool/s for steel lines.
I think that will be enough to stop a hose/clamp from slipping off.

Re: Tuning my VY V6 Manual for 98 octane
I think what’s happening with the vy eco is that with peak torque afr’s low down there’s obviously more cylinder pressure. But because there’s already too much timing it’s inducing more knock. I think with stoich afr’s down low they can get away with that extra timing. And I think that’s exactly wh...

Re: Tuning my VY V6 Manual for 98 octane
On our old VS I thought it was generally on the rich side from the factory. I've not get got a WB on the VT to see where that is. But yes, I think around peak torque you need to be a little richer and then lean it out a touch heading towards peak power. I've looked at a lot of dyno tuning print outs...

Re: Tuning my VY V6 Manual for 98 octane
I noticed the Ecotec seems to respond well to richer afr’s as well. But then they become fuel guzzlers. Setting the commanded afr’s to say 12.8 across the board, the engine is way more responsive and a lot more get up and go. But then knock also increases. So I think there is some gains to be had f...

Re: Tuning my VY V6 Manual for 98 octane
Lots of good info there.
I too have noticed some transient knock.
I really need to get into the VT and see what it likes.

Re: Vy commodore
Plan is to use a belt sander on the intercooler pipes for that seamless look. Just like they do on stainless hand rails and things like that. So I really need to get the gaps and fit just right. Try a get really good penetration, none of my famous bugger welds 😂👌. Then I’ll get all the pipes and br...

Re: Vy commodore
I'm glad I'm not only one who feels like they have been in a major car wreck while bending down to work in Engine bay. Watching keenly for ideas as im no doubt going to do some revisions on mine. I'm 6'5" (I shrunk) so any time spent under a bonnet is a right PITA. I've taken to putting cars o...

Re: Vy commodore
I’ve actually had people put me down over the years because of the money I’ve spent on some of my builds. That’s why I’ve gone back to basics 😆. Not sure if you noticed but I’m using a hand grinder to cut my intercooler pipes knowing full well the gaps and fit needs to be perfect lol. But I’d like ...
