We've had the honour & pleasure meeting the man that is delcowizzid and having him stay with us the last few days. Talk about dedicated to the cause of horsepower, folded up sweatshirt under his arse and braced against the cage with laptop whilst i did my best to keep him in various load points and the speed at which he worked through i dunno how many tables tweaking it  . During power runs the thing was getting a bit out of shape when getting on peak torque and blowing away the rear tyres - the man wasn't the least worried and kept tweaking, do another run - tweak etc till we had a bit of drizzle then it was getting way dodgey and his laptop was getting wet so back to the shed for a smoko break and drop some pressure out of the rear tyres for a gap in the weather, today we went out to the car to put the stock computer back in and i sent delcowizzid out in it to test it. Traction limited :driving: :driving: man i can't wait to get it to the track, missed 1st practice today cos' i haven't greensheeted yet but we went for a look see. not many cars really, the mate that owns the VK i first raced in has retired it and bought a VR from huntly and he had that out, it was smoking a fair bit which we quickly figured rear main. My mate with the VL has reshelled over the off season and it looks to be hooking up reasonably well. Talked to they guys in the pits and VR man asked me to listen to a noise - soon as he fired it up i said big end - bugger.
Hopefully i'll get the car greensheeted tomorrow and get it out there for a squirt next weekend and see if i need to swap diff gears before the season starts.

The speed at which delcowizzid can sort out a real tune absolutely stunned me and i am in awe of his work, :punk: and it was really cool to shoot the shit over a couple of quiets with someone into engines and horsepower most likely more than myself :afro: turned out to be switched on at a quizz night too

Was going to skip third and final practice to get the car looking presentable with three new doors, front guards and some beating, the mates uncle has just moved to Gizzy and he said he'd paint it during the week so practice it was like this

Scored two tyres last week that are within a gnats dick of the circumference of my fronts + left rear last season but they're mud+snow jobbies which we're allowed now if they're road tyres and grooves not larger than 10mm. First time out the track was a joke - Productions grooming the track  second run i hadn't touched tyres and the track was getting pretty good and the car was awesome but with a lot of cars out there no chance to get a clear run i worked on how the car was behaving on different grooves - a bit of a push mid corner - nothing new but i thought i'd mostly dialed that out last season so i'll blame Kelfords and delcowizzid, third session i tried a different approach that a mate suggested (another reason for going to last practice). By this time there was a 'black slick' line coming out on the track, the car was definitely looser and the push was gone and glued to the arse of a honda that got by me a few times last season and took a few flags i was giving the brakes a workout avoiding contact and able to move high or low for a looksee - wasn't going to chance a hot passing move at a practice, pretty damned happy really and have options between the new and old pressures for fine tuning.

Sunday i gave it the hell clean - guards - wheels off etc and left it to dry, Tuesday lunchtime i came home to this

The stock bumper cover has been painted seperately and theres plenty on there, we're looking at giving it a coat of baby oil just prior to going on the track to try and stop the crap sticking so much, cheaper than mud-off ;)

Yeah mate touch wood. The red got layed on this morning except for the bumper cover - thats tomorrow. A wee bit of tyre grooving and grooming to do, oil & filter change, number on left door, new headlight blank-offs to make and i discovered a bit of a hole in the termination box when it was running on Sunday so that needs to be welded up ( this might be an ongoing saga ) and i'm racing ~ ~ ~ keeping it straight and shiney for a while ~ ~ ~ i hope like hell thats not a starter for a Tui billboard.

I managed to get the three commodores lined up together in the pits like i did when 34G was just starting out as a racer,
The VR (42G) has replaced the old 14G VK, its had two motor swaps in recent weeks. The VL (13G) has been reshelled over the off season.

Drivers breifing i pulled the 9 marble, 18 cars including a coupla rookies without the required practices starting off the back, my grids were 9, 18 (16 with rookies shuffled back) and 2 for the feature.

First race the track was very sloppy and i struggled to get by a slower CRX for a while got past a couple of cars and got taken by a few too whilst scrabbling for any real grip to finish 10th - nothing to write home about but not a mark on the car apart from some paint chips on the front.

Second race starting almost at the back and as we went around on the parade and pace laps the car felt like it was going to point well and it really did once we went green again behind that CRX but i soon got by him and cautiously made my way into the melee, snuck inside 42g outta shape later on and spent the last three or so laps hammer and tongs side by side with 13G working hard to avoid contact and having a hell of a battle with him and my car - whilst it was pointing real good i had bugger all drive and down the back straight especially i was rolling in and out of the throttle trying to control wheelspin wagging the tail wildly not able to go full throttle almost the whole straight ----seems like the cars got a new challenge for me ---- hooking up the wild hairy beast it has become--- didn't manage to get past my mate but we were both fizzing big time by the end of the race - epic battle and NO DAMAGE no idea where we finished and don't really care.

For the feature i tweaked the tyre pressures slightly, when we went through the pit wall onto the track i was absolutely gutted to see they'd just given the track a huge dousing with the water truck and just keeping on the track was a mission as we went around with the young buck inside me leaning all over my car on the formation and pace laps , probably rubbed me half a dozen or so times trying to push me up to a higher line. In my personal opinion when the lights went out his bumper was ahead of mine and when it went green my bumper was level with his 'A' pillar -false start. Spent a few laps going backwards till the track started to come to me and i could get some real pace on, about lap 8 i was hard into turn four when i heard a loud pop as the tube in my right front tyre let go and that corner dropped and i went sliding into the marbles, hit the clutch and tried to make my excursion into the wall as light as i could, gave it a tap with the corner of the bumper but that was me stuck with the rest of the feild flying by - the exit of turn four by the wall is one place you NEVER want to get stuck but there i sat till the race was finished.
I was not too happy by a long chalk and spoke to two flaggies about the start and they both thought it was bullshit so i wandered off to the tower, turned out my opinion must have been wrong as NOBODY else saw it that way - that would have meant a rerun.
